Sharon Dryflower - Potter
Sharon Dryflower was born at Taos Pueblo in 1949, the second of four daughters of Reycita Mirabal Reyna and Mike Redshirt Reyna. She said "I remember walking around the south side of the village when I was a young girl. One of the potters would hand me a piece of clay to keep me occupied." After her grandmother died, Dryflower found a container of micaceous clay, cleaned and very beautiful, along with a small bundle containing two black oval polishing stones. "At that moment I made a commitment to Mother Clay. I began to seek out potters to teach me the places to find clay and how to process it." Her work is in the collections of the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis, The Denver Museum of Natural History, The Museum of Anthropology at the University of Kansas, and the Millicent Rogers Museum.
